Profile     John A. Jensen, Broker of Record

In 1981, John Jensen became an independent real estate and mortgage intermediary based in Toronto. Since then, he has completed 227 commercial transactions with an aggregate value of $1.185 billion of which 116 are seniors housing related transactions amounting to more than $727 million.

Having arranged a number of CMHC insured mortgages on housing projects designed to accommodate seniors in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, John became increasingly aware of the rapid growth in the aging population and began to concentrate on serving this sector of the real estate industry.

Progressively, more and more transactions involved seniors housing including retirement homes, long-term care homes, and seniors apartments. By 1995, John had developed a list of over 1,000 buyers, sellers and lenders and decided to focus exclusively on selling and financing seniors living facilities.

Community Service

In 1983, as part of his commitment to his community, John joined the Board of Directors of the Harold & Grace Baker Centre in Toronto, a non-profit long-term care and retirement home with a capacity for 240 residents. Since then, John has had the honour of serving as Chairman for 6 years and is now an active Life Director of the organization.

From 1985 to 1997, John also served on the Board of Directors of Northwestern General Hospital, a 265 bed acute care community hospital in Toronto.

John has also served as Chairman of Keele-Lawrence Care Centre Corporation, a non-profit interim long-term care home that opened with a licensed capacity for 210 residents in 1999 to help alleviate the overcrowding in hospital emergency departments.
